Fuerteventura with the family: must-see places

 

If there is one place in the world that is ideal for unwinding and enjoying a relaxed, unhurried family holiday, that is Fuerteventura. It is an island renowned for its endless beaches and extraordinarily beautiful arid landscapes.

In the north of the island, you can visit the Corralejo dunes, a Natural Park of fine sand that extends to a coastline of crystal-clear waters. This part of the island has many coves where you can take shelter from the wind and keep an eye on the little ones while they swim in the sea. From Corralejo there are several excursions that are perfect for a family day out, such as a visit to Isla de Lobos, an islet located just a few miles away from the island of Fuerteventura. It is a paradisiacal and protected place, chosen by migratory birds to rest and regain strength before continuing their routes to other places.

If you are interested in rural areas, Antigua and Betancuria are two villages to include in your route around the island of Fuerteventura. In Antigua, you'll be able to see an authentic windmill that was used to prepare one of the most important local delicacies: gofio. Take a stroll through the village of Betancuria to discover one of the prettiest villages in Spain.

In the south of the island the beaches are just magnificent. The list is very long, although Cofete, Sotavento or Playa Esmeralda are the most impressive beaches.
