Some of its 12 protected areas include Timanfaya National Park, Natural Park of the Volcanoes, Monumento Natural de las Montañas del Fuego and protected landscape of La Geria.
Besides, on the north of Lanzarote, not far from the airport, you can also find the island of La Graciosa and the other smaller islands and islets from the Archipelago Chinijo: Alegranza, Montaña Clara, Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste. Some other of the best attractions of Lanzarote are the Mirador del Río; the Cueva de los Verdes, a natural cavity made of volcano lava; the Jameos del Agua, and the Cactus Garden, with over 10,000 different species of cactus.
