Rental terms and conditions
Bookings made online at top-car-hire.com offer special prices and conditions that cannot be applied to bookings made over the phone or at the counter of our offices.
The prices offered on top-car-hire.com depend on the time of booking, the pick-up and drop-off location, the duration of the rental, the vehicle category and the extras selected.
The driver's licence must be valid in Spain and must be at least 3 years old. Likewise, the minimum age to rent a car is 21 years old, except for group Z, whose minimum age to rent a car is 40 years old.
Please note that your booking may incur an additional charge of €12 per day per young driver if the driver is under 25 years of age. This extra charge is applied to the main driver as well as to additional drivers.
Prices offered on top-car-hire.com include:
- Taxes (IGIC) included.
- Unlimited mileage.
- Second driver.
- Child seats and boosters.
The price offered on top-car-hire.com includes the Compulsory Collision Damage Waiver with excess (CDW), which is the partial collision cover that covers damage to third parties, as well as theft by force (TP), fire due to mechanical causes and personal injury (PAI). The CDW will incur a deposit for the amount of the excess, which will vary depending on the category booked.
Furthermore, you can take out SCDW insurance, which is the Super Collision Damage Waiver which, in addition to the CDW, covers wheels, tyres and punctures. Mirrors, rear-view mirrors, glass, windows, lights (front and rear lights and indicators). Roadside assistance, towing and vehicle replacement.
Damage caused by driver negligence or breach of contract conditions, such as loss of keys, damage to the underbody due to driving in places that are not suitable for public transport, and misfuelling, among others, would not be covered by any insurance under any circumstances.
By taking out the SCDW, the client will be exempt from paying the excess, with the exception of group Z. If the client takes out the Super Collision Damage Waiver by paying the total amount of the booking by debit card, a deposit of 200€ will be required. This amount will serve as a guarantee for possible fuel differences or expenses related to concepts that are not included in the Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW).
TopCar is not responsible for any items left inside the vehicle.
Upon making your reservation request, you will receive two emails to the email address provided:
- The first one with the confirmation of the reception of your booking details.
- The second one, with the acceptance or refusal of the booking.
You do not have to make any payment through top-car-hire.com. You will be charged at our offices when you pick up the vehicle.
A valid credit or debit card in the driver's name is required to make the payment in order to pick up the vehicle. Any other means of payment must be arranged with the corresponding rental office. Depending on the model, selected insurance and method of payment, a deposit may be required. In order to pick up the vehicle, you must have the reservation number provided in the email with your booking acceptance.
When booking a vehicle, we will try to deliver the model you have selected, however, the model will in no case be guaranteed, unless this has been indicated on the label "guaranteed model", hence, if the exact model is not available, we will deliver another model from the same or a higher group for the same price.
Vehicle collection will take place at any of our offices located at the airports (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife South), at Tenerife North and La Palma offices, at tourist points (Gran Canaria South), or at offices located at the cruise ship docks in Fuerteventura (Puerto de Rosario) and Lanzarote (Arrecife) and at the La Palma dock.
Child seats (9-18 kg) and booster seats (18-36 kg) are offered free of charge for bookings made through top-car-hire.com with the exception of special ISOFIX seats which can be added during the booking process and will be charged at a daily rate of 10€ with a maximum amount of 100€ per rental.
ISOFIX seats are not free of charge and are subject to availability and compatibility with the selected group and will only be confirmed when this is specified in the booking confirmation email (second email).
Roof racks offered by TopCar are exclusively for the transport of surfboards and cannot be used for the transport of goods or any other type of package or object other than the one specified.
Roof racks are priced at €2 per day and can be selected as an extra during the booking process.
Please note that we do not have roof racks available for groups A, F, H, H1, J, L, S, S1, T, T1, V, Z hence this option will not be shown when making your booking if you have selected one of the above groups.
Only one surfboard per vehicle may be transported. The surfboard must be placed on the roof rack only and not directly on the roof or inside the vehicle.
TopCar declines all responsibility for any damage to the vehicle or third parties caused by the surfboard transported on the roof rack of the vehicle, such damage always being the sole responsibility of the hirer.
Our office opening hours are:
Gran Canaria Airport, Tenerife South Airport, Lanzarote Airport: 7:00h to 23:00h every day.
Fuerteventura Airport: 7:00h to 22:30h every day.
Tenerife North Airport: 7:30h to 22:30h every day.
La Palma Airport: 8:00h to 22:30h every day.
La Palma Dock, Fuerteventura Cruise Ship Dock (Puerto del Rosario) and Arrecife Lanzarote Cruise Ship Dock: 8:00h to 20:00h only the days specified in the official cruise ship calendar.
Gran Canaria Playa del Inglés: 08.00h to 16.00h every day.
Any booking that starts outside normal opening hours, for those offices which allow out-of-hours bookings, will incur an "Out-of-Hours" fee of €30.
In case of early return of the hired vehicle, TopCar will not make any reimbursement for unused days, nor for the paid extras for those days. Likewise, we hereby inform you that the contracted insurance and any coverage are considered to have been taken out at the same time as the vehicle is collected on the day the rental begins.
TopCar applies a Same-Same or Fair Fuel policy whereby the customer must return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as when the vehicle was picked up. If you have any special needs or requests regarding fuel, please indicate them when making your booking in the comments or observations section.
Vehicles may not be taken outside the island in which they were hired and it is forbidden to transport them by boat or any other unauthorised means of transport, vehicle or trailer.
Personal data provided through top-car-hire.com will be treated as confidential.
The driver is liable for offences committed while driving the vehicle (fines, parking, etc.) in accordance with the Highway Code and other legal provisions in force.
