Tenerife North Airport is located 11 kilometers from the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the municipality of San Cristobal de la Laguna and access is via the TF-5 motorway.
Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands and occupies a central position between Gran Canaria, La Gomera and La Palma. With an area of 2,034 km ² and a population of nearly 900,000 inhabitants, has a peculiar triangular shape in the center of which stands the gigantic Pico del Teide, Spain's highest point at 3,718 meters. The island, in general, enjoys a warm climate, but during the winter months you can enjoy the sun and the beach, while watching the snow silhouette of Mount Teide, where it always snows in enough quantity.
Its rugged island terrain and the variety of climates make a wide variety of climates and landscapes, and a wealth of ecosystems with their own flora and fauna. Of the natural attractions available to Tenerife, 43 protected natural areas and the most important are: the Teide National Park (created in 1954 and declared a Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007) and surrounded by the Park Corona Natural Forest Parks and Rural de Anaga and Teno. Besides these places, the Wind Cave in Icod de los Vinos, is one of the longest volcanic tunnels in the world, with 18 kilometers of underground galleries, which represents a unique natural attraction in Tenerife.
The island of Tenerife is composed of thirty-one municipalities more traditional atmosphere in the north and most cosmopolitan in the south, which have a modern infrastructure and a wide range of leisure activities for holiday makers.
The capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 58 km. coast, has in the Plaza of Spain the nerve center of the city. Here you can visit the Church of the Conception of Baroque style, the Museo Militar Regional de Canarias, the Auditorium, the Guimerá theatre or García Sanabria Park. If you prefer the sea, a few miles from the center will find the Playa de las Teresitas. La Laguna is the second largest city and in it are: the Cathedral of Our Lady of Remedies, the Monastery of Saint Catherine of Siena or the Palacio de Nava, declared Cultural Interest. It offers spectacular views of landscapes from the Montes de Anaga. Also worth visiting the coastal town of Candelaria, 15 km. of the capital, where is located the Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria, neoclassical style.
